Finance broking · Australia-wide

Your credit history is one part of the picture. Not the whole thing.

Credit4U compares lenders for employed Australians borrowing from $5,000. If you have had defaults or missed payments, you can still apply. What our lenders want to see is that you are working now.

No documents. Nothing here affects your credit score.

What is the loan for?

How it works

Three steps, and you are never in the dark

  1. Tell us the basics

Two minutes online. Loan amount, what it is for, your work and income, and roughly how your credit history looks. No documents at this stage.

  2. We match you to lenders

We compare your profile against our panel and identify the lenders most likely to approve you at the best rate available to you. This is research, not a credit application, so nothing touches your file.

  3. You decide what happens next

We email you what we found and what it would cost. Only if you want to proceed do we lodge a formal application — and only then is a credit enquiry recorded.

Straight talk

What a broker actually does for you

Applying directly to lender after lender is the most expensive mistake a borrower with imperfect credit can make. Every application leaves an enquiry on your credit file. A file with six enquiries in three months reads as distress, and lenders price that in — or decline outright.

We work the other way around. We assess your position once, compare it against what we know about each lender's policy, and approach only the ones with a genuine chance of approving you. One enquiry instead of six.

The part most people do not know

Lenders do not publish their credit policies. What is advertised is the rate; what decides your application is policy — the internal rules about how recent a default can be, whether overtime counts as income, how casual employment is treated, what minimum time in a job is acceptable.

Two lenders advertising nearly identical rates can have completely different answers on the same application. One declines you flatly; the other approves without hesitation. You cannot see this from the outside. It is the single most valuable thing a broker knows.

How we are paid

The lender pays us a commission when a loan settles. You pay us nothing at any stage. The commission structure is disclosed in writing in our Credit Guide before you commit, and the actual amount is disclosed again before settlement.

Because different lenders pay different commissions, there is an obvious conflict of interest. Australian law addresses this with a best interests duty: when providing credit assistance for consumer loans we must act in your interests and put them ahead of ours. It is a legal obligation, not a marketing promise, and it is enforceable by ASIC.

Who our lenders can help

To be considered you need to be 18 or over, an Australian citizen or permanent resident, currently working, and earning at least $30,000 a year before tax.

Past credit problems are not a barrier. Defaults, arrears and a low credit score are all things our lenders see every day. What matters is your income now, not the worst month you have had. If you are between jobs or your only income is a Centrelink payment, our panel cannot help — and we would rather tell you that up front than put an enquiry on your credit file that goes nowhere.

Common questions

Before you apply

Does enquiring hurt my credit score?

No. Telling us your situation is not a credit application and no enquiry is recorded anywhere. A credit enquiry only happens if you ask us to formally lodge with a lender, and we confirm that with you first.

How quickly will I hear back?

The same business day for enquiries received during business hours. If you send yours in the evening or on a weekend, you will have an answer the next business morning.

What if I have a default listed?

Tell us. It changes which lenders we approach and it affects your rate, but for most employed applicants it does not rule out approval. What we cannot work around is an absence of income.

Do you charge anything?

No. Not for the enquiry, not for the application, not on settlement. We are paid by the lender.

Can I apply if I just started a new job?

Often, yes. Some lenders want six months in your current role; others accept applicants inside a probation period, particularly where the role is in the same industry as the previous one. This is exactly the kind of policy difference that is worth knowing before you apply.
