What we arrange
Six kinds of finance, one point of contact
Each of these works differently, and the lender that suits one rarely suits another. That's the part we handle.
Debt consolidation
Roll credit cards, personal loans and buy-now-pay-later balances into one repayment at one rate, with a date the debt actually ends.
Consolidate debt $10,000 – $100,000Personal loans
Fixed-rate borrowing for renovations, medical costs, a wedding, or anything else that needs funding over one to seven years.
Personal loans $10,000 – $500,000+Business loans
Working capital, stock, expansion or ATO debt. Secured and unsecured, from banks and specialist SME lenders.
Business finance Purchase & refinanceHome loans
First home, next home, investment property or a refinance that puts you on a rate worth having.
Home loans $10,000 – $150,000Car & vehicle loans
Secured car finance for dealer or private sale, plus novated and commercial vehicle options.
Car loans $10,000 – $500,000+Equipment finance
Machinery, tools, fit-out and commercial vehicles, secured against the asset itself so the rate usually comes in lower.
Equipment financeHow it works
Three steps, and you can stop at any of them
-
Tell us the situation
Two minutes online or one phone call. What you want to borrow, what it's for, and a broad sense of your income and existing commitments.
-
We shortlist the lenders that fit
We match your circumstances against the credit policies of the lenders on our panel and come back with realistic options — including the total cost, not just the rate.
-
You decide whether to apply
Nothing is lodged and no credit enquiry is recorded until you say go. If you'd rather not proceed, that's a perfectly fine outcome.
The market right now
Borrowing costs are still elevated
The Reserve Bank held the cash rate at 4.35% on 11 August 2026, the second hold after three increases earlier in the year. Headline inflation is running at 3.8%, and the RBA doesn't expect it back near the middle of its 2–3% target band until late 2027.
What that means practically: the gap between what a credit card charges and what a structured loan charges is wide, and it's worth knowing which side of it you're on before you borrow anything.
- 4.35%
- RBA cash rate, held on 11 August 2026. Next decision 29 September 2026.
- ~18.6%
- Average credit card purchase rate in Australia — one of the most expensive forms of consumer debt available.
- 1 in 3
- Roughly the share of Australian adults carrying credit card debt from month to month.
Why use a broker
Lenders don't publish the part that matters
Every lender advertises a headline rate. Almost none of them publish their credit policy — the rules that decide whether you're approved, and at what rate. That policy is where applications actually succeed or fail.
A self-employed applicant with two years of returns, a borrower with a default from 2023, a business with strong revenue but thin trading history: each of these is an easy yes at some lenders and an automatic no at others. Applying blind means collecting knockbacks, and every knockback sits on your credit file for other lenders to see.
Our job is to know the difference before you apply, so you make one well-aimed application instead of four hopeful ones.
What we won't do
We won't put you into a loan we don't think you can afford, and we won't tell you borrowing is the answer when it isn't. If your situation calls for free financial counselling rather than more credit, we'll say so and give you the number — the National Debt Helpline is 1800 007 007, and it's free and confidential.
Before you speak to anyone
It helps to have a rough idea of these. Don't worry if you don't — we can work through them with you.
- How much you need, and what it's for
- Your income, and whether it's PAYG or self-employed
- What you already owe, and the rate on each debt
- Whether you own property or another asset that could be offered as security
- Anything on your credit file you already know about
FAQ
Common questions
Is Credit4U a lender?
No. We are a finance broking service operating under Australian Credit Licence 393689, held by Local Capital Pty Ltd. We don't lend our own money. We look at your situation, work out which lenders on our panel are likely to suit it, and help you put together an application. The lender makes the credit decision and holds the loan.
What does it cost me?
For most loans we're paid a commission by the lender if your loan settles, so there's no fee to you. Some more complex commercial matters carry a broker fee — if that applies to you, we'll tell you the amount in writing before you commit to anything. Our Credit Guide sets out how we get paid.
Will an enquiry hurt my credit score?
No. Talking to us and getting an indicative view costs you nothing and leaves no mark on your credit file. A credit enquiry is only recorded when you decide to lodge a formal application with a specific lender, and we'll confirm with you before that happens.
What's the minimum I can borrow?
We work on loans from $10,000. Below that, a low-limit credit card, a no-interest loan scheme or your existing bank is usually a better and cheaper answer than a broker-arranged loan.
How long does it take?
It depends entirely on the lender and the product. Some unsecured personal and business lenders can fund within one to three business days once they have everything they need. Home loans and property-secured commercial facilities normally run to several weeks. We'll give you a realistic timeframe once we know which lender fits.
Can you help if my credit history isn't perfect?
Sometimes. Lenders vary a lot in what they'll accept, and a default or a few late payments doesn't automatically rule you out — though it usually means a higher rate. What we won't do is put you into a loan you can't afford. If the honest answer is that borrowing isn't right for you now, we'll say so and point you to free financial counselling.
Find out what you can borrow, and what it would really cost
A short enquiry, a straight answer, and no credit enquiry unless you choose to apply.
Checking your options does not affect your credit score. A credit check is only done if you decide to apply with a lender.
